I have ordered some of the LabEx supplies including some of these guys ...

and these guys ...

And I even ordered some science geek prizes for students that show dedication and effort like this uber-cool beaker mug.

So let's start thinking about science. Get your notes out and review concepts and it is never too early to think about safety.
THE TWELVE RULES OF SAFETY
1. Keep your work area clean and the floor dry.
2. Always wear eye protection.
3. No eating or drinking in the laboratory.
4. No unscheduled or unauthorized experiments without permission from your instructor.
5. No "horseplay" or "carrying on" in the laboratory.
6. Immediately report any accidents to your instructor.
7. Know the location of all safety equipment: showers, eye washes, emergency exits, and fire extinguishers.
8. Clean up any spills immediately; remove chemicals from your skin with soap and water.
9. Treat any burns (heat or chemical) with lots of cold water.
10. In case of fire, don't panic. Call for help. Use the showers if a person is on fire, or smother the flames if the fire is in a flask.
11. Label your flasks, especially any container in which you will store chemicals.
12. Treat all chemicals with due care and think before you act.

We are up to 10 submitted registrations now.
I really want that mug (I'm assuming thats what the nerdy prize is). I know I'm not a registered student and all, but this recent alumni (well, almost alumni) is dead set on getting that mug. It would be a nice souvenir. (Some people have yearbooks...science majors have glassware). So this is me leaving the first comment and hoping you'll overlook that whole "not a registered student" detail.
hey, if julie doesn't get the nerdy science prize, can I have it? Anyway, I'm registered for LabEx2008, and I can't wait!!!
Don't worry Anna, most of my comment was a joke, I wouldn't have actually gotten the prize over any registered students (Nor would I have taken it even if P. Honeydew had offered). Although it looks like you won't be lucky enough to get the mug :(. Bug jewelry is a close second though. And very fashionable in the science world.
